Product Description
Initially intended to be one of the Second World War's largest carriers, Shinano was the third iteration of Yamato class battleships. Shortly after the Japanese defeat at Midway, the production of this gigantic vessel began and was completed on Nov. 19, 1944. Its overall length spread to 266 m and displaced 62,000 t. It was well supported by heavily armed sides, adopted from Yamato, and a sturdy flight deck capable of withstanding a 500 kg bomb 's direct blast. However, it was detected and torpedoed by an American submarine on its way to being fitted out, eventually capsizing off the shores of Shionomisaki.
This is Shinano's 1/700 assembly model set, the huge carrier, which had been sunk just ten days after design and construction. Yamato and Musashi 's special hull development has been traced back to Shinano, and has been precisely developed. Only the hangar under the flight deck was recreated, so it can be filled with aircraft. The front and rear aircraft elevators can be modeled in either the elevated or lowered position. With the fullest craftsmanship, the bridge, sloping funnel and steam pipes were also defined. The set also features intricate rocket launchers molding, powerful anti-aircraft guns, and other popular Shinano weapons. The set includes 32 planes including the Ryusei. Since aircraft are molded in clear plastic, a realistic finish is created by keeping the cabin portion unpainted.
