Product Description
The Pullman 6-3 Sleeper offered all private and, consequently, the most expensive accommodations available during the heyday of rail travel. They were most often found on premier name trains for all the major railroads such as the Santa Fe Chief or IC’s Panama Limited, and were shared widely in cross-country pool service. They were a favorite for assignment to high-profile “special” trains such as the Cardinal’s Train, the Eisenhower Campaign train, and the original Freedom Train of 1947-49, and frequently wore a variety of paint schemes during their tenure on the rails. Numbering over 200 built, these cars lasted long into the streamlined era, and were a major component of Florida winter trains on the East Coast.
